In the 1990s, a 20-metre-long barge was found near Wat Ratchabophit near Klong Lot, a canal dug during the reign of King Rama V more than 100 years ago.
Erbprem Vatcharangkul, archeologist and expert on ancient boats, said parts of Klong Mahanak served as a pier for goods. Klong Mahanak was dug when King Rama I built the capital city more than 200 years ago.
